The counting numbers are called natural numbers.
Writing a number in figures is called notation.
Writing a number in words is called numerations.
These symbols are called digits,
A group of digits, denoting a number is called a numeral.
All natural numbers together with 0 are called whole numbers.
Every natural number is a whole number but 0 is a whole number which is not a natural number.
The face- value of a digit is the digit itself, wherver it may be.
Place-value of a digit = (Its face-value) x (Value of the place).
The place value of 0 is always 0.
A number 1 more than the given number is called its successor.
A number 1 less than the given number is called its predecessor.
A number having more digits is greater than another having fewer digits.
Numbers in ascending order means the number from smaller to grater.
