A landscape is the visible features of an area of land, its landforms, and how they integrate with natural or man-made features. In art a landscape has 4 parts.

Background - Is background of a scene is the furthest away.
Horizon Line- Is the area where the sky meets the ground.
Middle-ground- Is the middle distance of a painting, photograph or artwork.
Foreground- Is the area closest to the viewer.
The background of a scene is the furthest away. Because items in the background are meant to appear farther away they are much smaller in size, duller in color, and contain less detail than objects that are close to the viewer.
