    The Atlantic Slave Trade

The first enslaved Africans that arrived in Jamestown came from the West Coast of Africa. They were just a handful of the millions before and after brought over in what was called the "Middle Passage", the middle part of the Triangular Trade route. Ships would leave Europe, trade weapons and tools for slaves in Africa and then slaves for natural resources in the New World and then back again to Europe to start the whole journey again.

    Q.

What would be a possible historical theory to investigate that explains why the United States had so much fewer enslaved African arrivals from the Middle Passage?

    answer choices

Because the US wasn't founded as a nation until 1776, it participated in the slave trade for a much shorter time.

Only one region of the United States had high demand for African slave labor, compared to entire countries in South America.

The abolition movement that fought to end the slave trade was actually somewhat effective.
