Arithmetic Sequence
A list of numbers where the difference between one term (number) and the next is constant
Example: 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, ... (common difference is 2)
Example 2: -4, -7, -10, -13, ... (common difference is -3)
Geometric Sequence
A list of numbers where the ratio between one term (number) and the next is constant
Example: 2, 6, 18, 54, ... (common ratio is 3)
Example #2: 5, 5/2, 5/4, 5/8, ... (commmon ratio is 1/2)
What is the missing term in this series?
3, 12, ?, 192, ...

Solving a system of equations (substitution)
Step 1: Solve one of the equations for one of the variables
Step 2: Substitute what the variable equals in the solved equation into the other equation
Step 3: Solve the second equation (which should now only have one variable)
Step 4: Plug in the solution from step 3 to one of the original equations to solve for the other variable
If x-y = 18, x + y = 30, and x > y, what is the value of xy ?

Factoring using the AC Method
ax2+bx+cax^2+bx+cax2+bx+c
Step 1: Multiply a and c
Find two numbers that multiply to be the product from step 1 and also add to be b
Substitute those numbers for b
Factor by Grouping (see next slide)
Factoring by grouping
Group the first two terms and the second two terms together
Find the GCF of the first two terms
Find the GCF of the second two terms
Complete the factoring (see next slide for example)
Which of the following is a factor of the polynomial
x-1
2x-5
2x+5
2x-3
Trigonometry (Introduction)
In a right triangle, the ratios of sides in relation to an angle are described using trigonometric ratios
The ratios are sine, cosine, and tangent
Sine = opposite side divided by hypotenuse
Cosine = adjacent side divided by hypotentuse
Tangent = Opposite side divided by adjacent side
SOH-CAH-TOA
What is the sine of
