What is Longitude and Latitude?

LATITUDE

Latitude lines are parallel lines that measure how far North or South based on the Equator.  The Equator is halfway around the world and starts at 0 degrees. 90 degrees is the highest degree at the North and South poles.

LONGITUDE

Lines of LONGITUDE start at 0 degrees at the Prime Meridian.  Longitude lines measure lines east or west of the Prime Meridian. They can go up to 180 degrees (which is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean).
